OUR HISTORY

Generations Church of Granbury,  our life-giving evangelical non-denominational congregation, began in 1991 as a mission of Shady Grove Church of Grand Prairie, under the oversight of their then senior pastor Olen Griffing.  At the end of that year, after serving for 9 months in our new congregation's Children’s Ministry, Alan and Yvette Latta officially became our first senior pastors.

In the summer of 2002, after 10-plus years and over 7 rented locations, our congregation, then known as Shady Grove Church of Granbury, finally moved into our own newly constructed 12,500 sq. ft. building on 17.638 acres of land at 5718 East Highway 377.  (Later, we also completed a 5,500 square foot second floor).

Now located on a rocky hill, with no shade nor grove and being 3.4 miles from Granbury’s own Shady Grove Road and a subdivision with the same name, we decided to change our name - with Shady Grove Church of Grand Prairie's and Pastor Olen Griffing’s
blessing - to Generations Church of Granbury.

This new name reflects what we desire to be a place for all people, of all ages - for ages to come.

We hope to one day plant other Generations Churches around this part of Texas.

“With a strong commitment to worshiping God and ministering to people,
we believe we are destined to grow as we truly seek to know God
and to make Him known, to this generation and beyond, in real time.”

Beginning with a summary of early church history - by Village Church Production - this video reveals some of our historical roots as a congregation; which includes our being planted by Shady Grove Church. May The Lord help us all continue what Jesus Christ began.
